About this kit
The Sd.Kfz.250/9 was a light armoured half-track reconnaissance vehicle used by the scout battalions of Germany's Panzer and motorised divisions. Built on the short "Alte" Sd.Kfz.250 chassis, it was fitted with the same enclosed turret used on the Sd.Kfz.222 armoured car, carrying a 2cm KwK 30/38 automatic cannon and coaxial MG34, giving fast-moving reconnaissance patrols enough firepower to fight for information rather than just report it, particularly on the Eastern Front from 1943 onward.
Dragon's kit captures the compact 250-series hull and the distinctive open-topped turret with slide-moulded panels that reproduce the vehicle's angular armour plating and turret ring detail, complemented by individual track links for the half-track's short-pitch running gear and photo-etched parts for stowage racks, aerial mounts and engine louvres.
The box includes decals for German reconnaissance unit markings alongside full assembly instructions.
A compact but characterful subject, this kit is well suited to modellers building a Panzer division reconnaissance company or wanting a smaller half-track to complement larger armour in a diorama.
