About this kit
The Flammpanzer 38 was a specialised flamethrower variant of the Jagdpanzer 38 "Hetzer" tank destroyer, built by removing the vehicle's 7.5cm gun and replacing it with a Koebe flame projector fed from an armoured fuel tank carried inside the fighting compartment. Rushed into limited production in 1944-45, it was intended to give hard-pressed German infantry a close-support weapon capable of clearing bunkers, buildings and dug-in troops as the war turned decisively against Germany on both fronts.
This Dragon kit depicts a mid-production Hetzer hull, capturing the specific engine deck louvres, muffler and idler wheel details of that production block. Dragon's slide-mould tooling delivers the Hetzer's low, sharply sloped superstructure and flame-projector mantlet as crisp single-piece mouldings, while workable individual track links and etched-brass stowage brackets and mesh screens add fine texture that plastic alone can't match.
Decals and markings are included for German flame-tank units, along with full instructions covering the distinctive fuel-tank interior detail visible through the open engine hatches.
An unusual and rarely-modelled subject, this kit will appeal to Hetzer enthusiasts and collectors looking to add a genuinely different late-war German AFV to their display.
