About this kit
This kit depicts one of the most famous individual tanks in the world: Tiger 131, an early production Tiger I of schwere Panzer-Abteilung 504, knocked out and captured largely intact by British forces near Djebel Djaffa in Tunisia in April 1943. Tiger 131 went on to be extensively evaluated by the Allies and today survives as the only running Tiger I in the world, on display at The Tank Museum, Bovington.
Dragon's kit reproduces the early production features specific to this tank as captured — the smoke-candle discharger layout, the Feifel air filter housings at the rear, the distinctive turret number "131" carried on both sides, and the characteristic interlocking road wheel arrangement of the early Tiger chassis.
The model features Dragon's finely engineered upper hull and turret with crisp cast-texture surfaces, individual track links for accurate sag, and a detailed 8.8cm KwK 36 gun barrel produced using slide-mould technology for a hollow, one-piece muzzle. Markings are provided for the "131" livery as captured, so the finished model instantly reads as this specific historic vehicle.
A must-build for anyone with an interest in the North African campaign or in Tiger tanks generally, this release lets modellers recreate arguably the best-documented Tiger I in existence.
