This 1/35 scale Dragon set is themed around the German "Advance to Kharkov" offensive of May 1942 — the Second Battle of Kharkov — in which Wehrmacht forces encircled and destroyed Soviet armies attempting to retake the city, one of the most complete Axis victories of the war on the Eastern Front.
The set comprises individually posed German soldiers modelled in the field gear typical of the spring 1942 fighting, sculpted with Dragon's characteristic attention to uniform detail, webbing and personal kit, so each figure reads convincingly as part of an advancing infantry or panzergrenadier column.
Figures are supplied as multi-part grey styrene mouldings with separate weapons and equipment, together with a decal sheet and instructions, allowing a variety of poses to be arranged for a dynamic scene.
It pairs naturally with Dragon's 1942-era Panzer III and IV kits to build a complete Kharkov offensive diorama, and gives figure painters an interesting mix of poses to work with.
