The Panzer IV Ausf.J was the final production model of Germany's most numerous tank of the Second World War, built from mid-1944 through to the end of the war as manufacturers raced to simplify construction and boost output. Most distinctively, the power-traverse motor for the turret was deleted in favour of manual traversing only, and the space it freed up was used to fit an additional 200-litre fuel tank, extending the tank's operational range at a time when fuel supplies were increasingly scarce.
This kit covers the initial/early Ausf.J production batch, which still carried over a number of features from the preceding Ausf.H, such as the twin exhaust mufflers and older cupola, before the starker late-war simplifications became standard. Dragon's slide-mould tooling renders the turret, hull and running gear with sharp, accurate surface detail typical of the brand.
The kit includes decal options for period German markings and a full instruction booklet.
A must-have for anyone building a representative Panzer IV production study or an accurate late-war Wehrmacht armoured company.
