About this kit
The Flak 38(t) was a German self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle built on the reliable and widely produced Panzer 38(t) chassis. In place of a turret it carried a rear-mounted, open-topped armoured fighting compartment housing a 2cm Flak 38 automatic cannon, giving panzer and panzergrenadier columns mobile protection from low-flying Allied fighter-bombers during the increasingly contested skies of the later war years. The Ausf.M "Late" version featured the improved, sloped-front superstructure shared with the Jagdpanzer 38 (Hetzer) family, offering better ballistic protection for the driver and crew than earlier Flak 38(t) conversions.
Dragon's 1/35 rendition uses the marque's characteristic slide-mould technology to capture the Panzer 38(t) running gear, the distinctive sloped hull nose, and the open flak superstructure with crisp, authentic detail. The kit reproduces the 2cm Flak 38 gun with fine barrel detail and a workable mount, along with etched-style ammunition racks and stowage typical of late-war German self-propelled AA vehicles.
The kit includes a full sprue of injection-moulded parts, decal sheet for authentic German markings, and comprehensive assembly instructions covering the vehicle's unique layout.
This is a rewarding subject for modellers building late-war German armoured columns or dioramas depicting the increasingly vital role of mobile anti-aircraft defence on the Western and Eastern Fronts.
