About this kit
The Pak 43/3 L/71 mit Behelfslafette was Germany's stop-gap solution for fielding the devastating 8.8cm Pak 43 L/71 anti-tank gun faster than dedicated tank-destroyer hulls like the Nashorn or Elefant could be produced. Engineers mounted the full-power gun, capable of defeating any Allied tank at typical combat ranges, onto an improvised ("Behelfslafette") carriage built largely from Panzer III/IV running gear components, rushed into service from late 1943.
Dragon's 1/35 kit faithfully reproduces the ungainly, field-expedient look of this emergency mounting, including the exposed gun cradle, minimal armour shielding and the distinctive split-trail arrangement borrowed from towed artillery practice. Slide-mould technology delivers a crisp, hollow L/71 barrel and finely moulded breech mechanism.
The kit includes crew figures, ammunition detail and a decal sheet for German army markings, allowing builders to recreate this rare and improvised weapon exactly as fielded in the desperate defensive battles of 1944.
A distinctive addition for collectors who want something beyond the mainstream Panzer lineup, this kit rewards modellers interested in the more obscure, expedient side of German wartime engineering.
