About this kit
The Sd.Kfz.251/9 Ausf.D, nicknamed "Stummel" (stump) by German troops, mounted the short-barrelled 7.5cm KwK37 L/24 gun onto the simplified, slab-sided Ausf.D hull of the standard Wehrmacht half-track. It gave armoured infantry companies their own integral fire-support vehicle, able to engage bunkers, buildings and soft targets with HE rounds while keeping pace with the half-tracked Panzergrenadiers it accompanied.
Dragon's 1/35 rendition captures the late-war Ausf.D hull's simplified flat armour panels, the accurately shaped superstructure around the 7.5cm mount, and the vehicle's distinctive open-topped fighting compartment. Slide-moulded parts reproduce the gun's recuperator and shield with crisp, hollow detail.
The kit includes individual track links for the half-track's distinctive rubber-and-steel running gear, finely moulded stowage detail, and decals for multiple Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS units that fielded the type in the closing campaigns of the war.
Ideal for modellers building a late-war German Panzergrenadier scene, this half-track pairs naturally with Dragon's other Sd.Kfz.251 variants and infantry figure sets for a cohesive diorama.
