About this kit
The Sturmpanzer IV, nicknamed "Brummbär" (Grizzly Bear), mounted a short but powerful 15cm StuH 43 howitzer in a heavily armoured casemate built on the Panzer IV chassis, designed to blast a path through fortified buildings and strongpoints in brutal urban combat. It first saw action at Kursk in 1943 and went on to fight in the desperate street battles of Anzio and the Warsaw Uprising, where its thick frontal armour and massive high-explosive shell made it a feared close-support weapon.
This kit depicts a mid-production Brummbär finished with Zimmerit, the ridged anti-magnetic-mine paste coating applied to German AFVs from late 1943 to defeat magnetically-attached demolition charges. Dragon's slide-mould tooling reproduces the Zimmerit texture across the casemate and hull surfaces in fine, consistent detail, alongside the mid-production features such as the revised gun mantlet and driver's visor introduced partway through the type's production run.
The kit includes decals for authentic unit markings and the detailed running gear, tracks and stowage fittings expected of a Dragon 1/35 armour kit.
This is a strong choice for modellers who enjoy replicating textured Zimmerit finishes and want a heavily armoured, close-support AFV with genuine urban-combat history for their German armour collection.
