Dragon 1/35 Military - 1/35 Sd Kfz 184 Ferdinand Kursk - D6495

The Sd.Kfz.184 Ferdinand was a formidable heavy tank destroyer built on Ferdinand Porsche's rejected Tiger chassis design, armed with the devastating 8.8cm PaK 43/2 L/71 gun capable of destroying almost any Allied tank at long range. Rushed into service for the Battle of Kursk in July 1943, the Ferdinands of Panzerjäger-Abteilung 653 and 654 inflicted heavy losses on Soviet armour but suffered from poor close-in protection and mechanical unreliability, giving the type a fearsome but flawed combat reputation.

Dragon's kit captures the Ferdinand's distinctive slab-sided casemate superstructure and the unique Porsche running gear, reproduced through slide-mould tooling that renders the thick, riveted and welded armour plate with crisp definition. The long PaK 43/2 barrel and characteristic rear-mounted engine louvres are faithfully modelled to match the Kursk-era configuration of the vehicle, before the type was later upgraded and renamed Elefant.

The kit includes decals for the markings carried by the Kursk battalions, along with the detailed running gear and stowage fittings typical of a Dragon 1/35 armour release.
