The Sd.Kfz.164 Hornisse was a German tank destroyer built by mating the powerful 8.8cm PaK 43/1 L/71 anti-tank gun to a lightly armoured Geschutzwagen III/IV chassis, combining components from the Panzer III and Panzer IV. Entering service in 1943, it gave German forces a mobile platform capable of killing Allied tanks well beyond their own effective range. In early 1944 Hitler ordered the vehicle renamed Nashorn ('Rhinoceros'), the name by which it is more commonly known today.
Dragon's kit captures the vehicle's tall, open-topped fighting compartment and the long, slender PaK 43/1 barrel using slide-mould technology, with finely rendered gun shield, ready-rack ammunition stowage and hull detail.
Workable track links, accurate running gear and decal options for German unit markings are included, giving builders everything needed for an accurate late-war finish.
With its distinctive silhouette and formidable armament, this Hornisse/Nashorn kit is a strong addition to any German tank destroyer collection or Eastern Front armour display.
