The Panzer III Ausf.J was one of the Wehrmacht's principal medium tanks during the first half of the Second World War, forming the backbone of German panzer divisions in North Africa and on the Eastern Front through 1941 and 1942. The Ausf.J introduced thicker, appliqué-reinforced armour and was produced in both 5cm KwK 38 L/42 short-barrel and later long-barrel L/60 gun configurations.
