About this kit
This set depicts German Panzergrenadiere, mechanised infantry attached to Panzer and Panzergrenadier divisions, fighting in the Italian campaign between the 1943 Allied invasion of Sicily and mainland Italy and the German surrender in Italy in 1945. It was a campaign fought largely on the defensive, through mountainous terrain and successive fortified lines such as the Gustav and Gothic Lines, quite different in character from the mobile fighting on other fronts.
The "Gen2" designation marks this as one of Dragon's second-generation figure sculpts, featuring improved anatomical proportions, more natural pose articulation and finer surface detail on uniforms and webbing than earlier Dragon figure tooling. The figures wear late-war Wehrmacht infantry equipment appropriate to the Italian theatre, including camouflage smocks and characteristic mountain-campaign gear.
Weapons, packs and personal equipment are moulded as separate parts for precise painting and weathering, and the set is designed to complement Dragon's Italian-theatre armour releases, including Panzer IV and StuG III variants that served in the campaign.
Well suited to modellers building a 1943-45 Italian front diorama who want figures with accurate late-war equipment and Dragon's refined second-generation sculpting.
