About this kit

Operation Ochsenkopf was a German offensive launched in the Tunisian campaign in February–March 1943, in which early-production Tiger I heavy tanks of schwere Panzer-Abteilung 501 were committed in an attempt to break through Allied lines. These early Tigers, among the first examples of the type to see combat, demonstrated both the tank's formidable firepower and armour and the mechanical teething problems typical of the type's early service life.

Dragon's kit depicts an early production Tiger I as fielded during this North African fighting, featuring the early-pattern cylindrical smoke-grenade launchers, "S-mine" mount, spare track stowage and the distinctive early turret and cupola configuration used before the mid-production changes of late 1943.

Dragon's slide-mould technology reproduces the Tiger's flat armour plates, interlocking track links and the powerful 8.8cm KwK 36 gun with hollow muzzle detail, while individual track link engineering and etched-brass parts add further realism to the finished model.

An essential subject for North African campaign modellers and Tiger enthusiasts alike, this kit lets builders recreate one of the most dramatic early combat debuts of the war's most feared tank.
