About this kit
This figure set depicts German Fallschirmjäger paratroopers on the move with pack donkeys, a scene typical of the mountainous fighting in Italy where units such as those defending the Gustav Line and Monte Cassino in 1944 found motor transport useless on the steep, shattered terrain and turned to mules and donkeys to keep ammunition and supplies flowing to forward positions.
Dragon's 1/35 sculptors have captured the paratroopers in characteristic jump smocks, rimless helmets and webbing, posed leading and loading laden pack animals, with the donkeys themselves finely detailed down to harness, panniers and cargo netting - a level of animal sculpting that sets Dragon's figure ranges apart.
The set includes multiple figures and animals plus full assembly instructions, giving modellers a ready-made vignette rather than a single static pose.
It's an ideal centrepiece for an Italian Front or Monte Cassino diorama, adding movement, narrative and a touch of the unexpected alongside more conventional armour and infantry subjects.
