About this kit
As Soviet forces closed in on Berlin in April 1945, Nazi Germany threw the Volkssturm, a hastily formed home-guard militia of old men, teenage boys and wounded veterans, into the city's last-ditch defence. Dragon's 1/35 German Volkssturm set portrays these desperate defenders, equipped with mismatched civilian clothing, armbands, and improvised or obsolete weapons including the ubiquitous Panzerfaust anti-tank weapon.
The figures are sculpted to reflect the ad hoc nature of the Volkssturm, with a mix of civilian coats, older-pattern military tunics and steel helmets, capturing the ragtag, under-equipped character of Germany's final line of defence. Separate heads and arms allow for varied, characterful posing.
Moulded in Dragon's fine grey styrene with clear instructions, the set is designed to complement other Dragon Berlin 1945 releases for building an authentic street-fighting diorama of the war's closing days.
An essential and poignant addition for any collection depicting the fall of the Third Reich, ideal alongside Dragon's Soviet infantry and armour of the same period.
