The Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-7 arrived in early 1944 as an incremental but important upgrade to Germany's premier radial-engine fighter, replacing the cowling-mounted 7.92mm machine guns of earlier A-series aircraft with hard-hitting 13mm MG 131s for improved firepower against increasingly well-armoured Allied bombers. This release depicts the type fitted with underfuselage "slipper" drop tanks, extending its range for escort and fighter-bomber sorties.
Dragon's 1/48 Fw 190 tooling is well regarded for its accurate cowling contours and BMW 801 radial engine detail, achieved through slide-moulded parts that capture the fighter's distinctive tightly-cowled nose without excess seam clean-up. The kit includes the drop tank and its mounting rack as posable options, along with a detailed cockpit and the type's characteristic wide-track undercarriage.
A decal sheet with authentic 1944 Luftwaffe fighter unit markings and a full instruction manual round out the package.
A great pick for fans of the Fw 190 wanting a mid-war A-7 variant with the added visual interest of external stores.
