The Horten Ho 229 was one of the most radical aircraft projects to emerge from wartime Germany: a tailless, all-wing jet designed by brothers Reimar and Walter Horten to combine minimal drag with a reduced radar signature. The "B" Nachtjäger (night fighter) study took the twin-jet flying wing a step further, proposing a two-seat, radar-equipped interceptor to hunt Allied night bombers, though it remained on the drawing board as the war ended.
Dragon's 1/48 rendition captures the aircraft's striking blended wing shape and centreline jet intakes using slide-moulded parts to keep the smooth flying surfaces free of unsightly seams. The kit provides a full cockpit for the two-man crew along with representations of the twin BMW 003 or Jumo 004 turbojets buried within the wing root, letting builders explore one of the Luftwaffe's most advanced "paper project" designs in physical form.
A comprehensive decal sheet and instruction manual are included, guiding assembly of this unusual and technically demanding shape.
Ideal for collectors of Luftwaffe advanced-technology projects and anyone drawn to the futuristic, almost stealth-like silhouette of the Horten flying wings.
