About this kit
The Messerschmitt Me P.1101 was one of the most significant German jet research aircraft of the war: a single-engine, sweep-wing fighter prototype whose wing angle could be adjusted on the ground to test different sweep configurations before flight. Captured incomplete by American forces at Oberammergau in 1945, the airframe was shipped to Bell Aircraft in the United States, where it directly informed the design of the Bell X-5 variable-sweep research aircraft.
Dragon's 1/72 kit reconstructs the P.1101 as it might have appeared had it reached squadron service, part of the company's long-running series of "paper project" Luftwaffe designs that were built to prototype stage but never saw combat. The kit features the aircraft's distinctive swept wing and single turbojet installation, moulded with the same fine surface detail found across Dragon's 1/72 range.
Speculative Luftwaffe markings decals are included.
A favourite among "Luft '46" and paper-project enthusiasts, this kit lets builders explore one of the most historically influential prototypes never to fly in wartime service.
