About this kit
The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil (Arrow) was one of the most unusual fighters of the Second World War, using a unique "push-pull" configuration with one engine driving a conventional nose-mounted tractor propeller and a second engine buried in the rear fuselage driving a pusher propeller behind the tail. This layout gave the Do 335 exceptional speed for a piston-engined aircraft, reportedly reaching around 470 mph (760 km/h), while avoiding the drag penalty of a twin-boom or wing-mounted twin-engine layout.
The B-6 was a proposed two-seat night fighter derivative of the Pfeil, intended to carry FuG 217/218 airborne intercept radar and a second crewman to operate it, following the pattern of other late-war German night fighter conversions. Like most Do 335 variants beyond the initial A-series, it remained a project or prototype-stage aircraft as the war ended before series production could begin.
Dragon's kit is part of its "Golden Wings" range of 1/72 scale aircraft, which specialises in unusual and rarely-kitted Luftwaffe subjects. The kit reproduces the Do 335's distinctive cruciform tail, twin propeller arrangement and framed canopy with the crisp, slide-moulded detail the range is known for, along with decals for period-accurate markings.
A must for modellers and collectors drawn to prototype-era Luftwaffe aircraft, offering a genuinely different silhouette to the usual single-engine fighters found in most 1/72 aircraft collections.
