About this kit
The M60 AVLB (Armored Vehicle Launched Bridge) mounted a scissors-type bridge on a modified M60 tank chassis, giving US Army combat engineers the ability to span rivers, ditches and anti-tank obstacles in minutes so armoured columns could keep advancing without waiting for conventional engineering support. It served as the backbone of NATO gap-crossing capability throughout the Cold War.
Dragon's "2 in 1" kit lets builders choose between displaying the bridge folded and stowed atop the launcher hull for road travel, or fully extended across a gap in its deployed crossing position, complete with the scissors hinge mechanism and hydraulic launching arms rendered in accurate, slide-moulded detail.
Based on Dragon's well-detailed M60 chassis with individual track links, the kit includes the full launcher superstructure, bridge sections, and decals for US Army engineer unit markings.
An unusual and visually striking engineering vehicle that makes a superb diorama centrepiece for a river-crossing or column-advance scene, and a welcome change of pace from typical gun tanks for any Cold War armour collection.
