About this kit
The M113 ACAV (Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle) was the US Army's field modification of the standard M113 armoured personnel carrier for the cavalry role in Vietnam, adding a distinctive gun shield "cheeseboard" armour kit around the commander's hatch. This particular variant goes a step further, replacing the usual .50 calibre mount with a powerful 106mm M40 recoilless rifle, giving cavalry squadrons a mobile, hard-hitting weapon for engaging bunkers, fortified positions and enemy armour in the dense terrain of Vietnam.
Dragon's 1/35 kit faithfully reproduces the ACAV's raised gun shields, the applique armour plates fitted around the exposed crew positions, and the bulky 106mm M40 recoilless rifle with its distinctive perforated barrel and spotting rifle, all rendered with the crisp slide-moulded detail Dragon is known for.
The kit includes individually assembled track links for accurate sag, full interior hull detail visible through open hatches, and a decal sheet for authentic 1960s-70s US cavalry unit markings.
An essential build for Vietnam War armour collectors and anyone assembling a cavalry squadron diorama, this ACAV variant stands out from the more commonly modelled standard M113.
