Dragon 1/16 Military - 1/16 Oberfeldwebel 6Th Army (Stalingrad 1942) - D1626

This 1/16 scale figure represents an Oberfeldwebel (senior sergeant) of the German 6th Army during the Battle of Stalingrad in the winter of 1942, when General Friedrich Paulus's army was encircled and eventually destroyed in the ruined city – one of the pivotal turning points of the Second World War on the Eastern Front. The figure's heavy winter clothing reflects the brutal conditions endured by German troops trapped in the Kessel.

Released as a new-tool figure, the kit is moulded at generous quarter-scale, giving Dragon's designers room to sculpt convincing folds in the greatcoat, wrapped headgear and NCO insignia with a level of definition well beyond a standard 1/35 crew figure.

Supplied as a single standing figure with a display base, it has a manageable parts count and, like other kits in the range, requires careful trimming of sprue gates and seam clean-up before gluing and painting.

A striking subject for collectors interested in the Eastern Front and Stalingrad in particular, and a good large-format piece for practising cold-weather uniform painting techniques.
