Dragon Warships - 1/350 U.S.S. Benson Dd-421 Benson Class Destroyer 1945 - D1032

USS Benson (DD-421) led the Benson class of destroyers, a parallel design to the Gleaves class sharing the same hull but fitted with a unit machinery arrangement (alternating boiler and engine rooms) for improved survivability, entering service just before America's entry into WWII and serving through to 1945.
Dragon's 1/350 kit captures the Benson class's distinctive split funnel spacing that results from the unit machinery layout, along with slide-moulded gun houses and torpedo tube banks, giving an accurate representation of this important early-war US destroyer type in its late-war 1945 configuration.
The kit includes photo-etched railings and detail parts alongside a decal sheet for markings, and can be built as a full hull or waterline display model.
A great companion piece to Dragon's Gleaves-class kits for modellers wanting to show the visual differences between the two contemporary early-war US destroyer designs side by side.
