The Italeri 1/35 U-Boot Biber (5609) is a 1/35 scale model kit of the Biber ('Beaver') — Germany's smallest operational midget submarine of WWII. The Biber was a single-man submarine developed in 1944, armed with two torpedoes slung beneath the hull. Operated by volunteer crews from the Kleinkampfverbände (Small Combat Units), the Biber was used against Allied shipping in the English Channel and Scheldt Estuary with limited success due to its primitive design and difficult operating conditions.
