The Italeri 1/72 F-8E Crusader (1456) is a 1/72 scale model kit of the Vought F-8E Crusader — the US Navy's first carrier-based supersonic fighter and the aircraft that gave Navy and USMC pilots their best air-to-air record in Vietnam. The Crusader's distinctive variable-incidence wing and slender fuselage made it aerodynamically elegant, and pilots called it 'the last gunfighter' for its 20mm cannon armament. The F-8 also served with the French Navy long after US retirement.
