The Italeri 1/72 P-51B Mustang (1423) is a 1/72 scale model kit of the North American P-51B — the first Merlin-powered Mustang that transformed the air war over Europe. When the P-51B entered service in late 1943 with the 8th Air Force, it could escort B-17s all the way to Berlin and beyond, destroying Luftwaffe fighters in the air and on the ground. The P-51B's framed 'razorback' canopy is distinctive from the bubble canopy of the later D model, and gives it a characteristic profile.
