The Italeri 1/72 Macchi MC.205 Veltro (1227) is a 1/72 scale model kit of the Macchi C.205 Veltro ('Greyhound') — widely regarded as the finest Italian fighter of WWII. The Veltro's DB 605 engine gave it a top speed of over 400mph and its armament of two 20mm cannon and two 12.7mm machine guns was formidable. Had it been available in sufficient numbers earlier, the MC.205 could have significantly affected the air war in the Mediterranean. A superb fighter that deserves far more recognition in scale model form.
